| Born | Ki • Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- Chon Se Bong () was one of the famous writers in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In his life time Chon, a winner of Order of Kim Il Sung and Kim Il Sung Prize, had created many literary works of national treasure. He was awarded a literary prize of the Afro-Asian writers' association. He worked as a member of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, a member of the Standing Committee of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly (at that time) and chairman of the C.C., Writers Union of Korea. Born into a tenant's family in Kowon County, South Hamgyong Province, he could not but leave school halfway and serve as a farmhand and a jobber for economic distress. Anyhow, he had special taste for literature. It was under the care of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il that his ardent wish for a writer was realized. Chon took the lead in creating the revolutionary literature.
