Sid Dean Smith, 64, of Newton died on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sid’s family (checks made payable to Deana Smith) may be left at the funeral home.
Sid, the son of William Glen and Arless (Dow) Smith, was born on October 18, 1955 in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1973 and served his country in the U.S. Army for 17 years. Sid was united in marriage with Linda Dodd in the spring of 1979 in Massachusetts. Sid later received his Associates Degree in Business from DMACC. Sid worked for many years in the Surgical Department at Skiff Medical Center. Most recently he was a sales associate in the Auto Center at Wal-Mart. Sid loved his 13 cats and spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Conroy Newton Smith, 59, of Middlesex, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, Somerset in Somerville. Born in Lucea Hanover, Jamaica he was raised in Brooklyn, New York and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army from 1981-1987. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Smith went on to graduate from Pratt University in New York with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He has an expansive work experience which included working for ARINC on high clearance projects, Nextel Sprint, and even taught in the New York City Public school system for 3 years.
