Zimbabwean-born Al Jazeera correspondent Haru Mutasa has drawn the ire of MDC leaders and supporters after she claimed that the party is similar to the ruling ZANU PF party.

ZANU PF has been blamed of ruining the “Jewel of Africa” in its 40 years in power through mismanaged, unbridled plunder, excessive corruption while it employs violence against political opponents during elections.

Writing on microblogging site Twitter, the well-travelled reporter said:

  • Zimbabwe's Haru Mutasa hosts Al Jazeera talk show

This Friday on Al Jazeera's talk show South2North, Haru Mutasa chats about millennial leadership with Pakistani author and political commentator Fatima Bhutto and two ambassadors to The One Young World Summit: Ilwad Elman from Somalia and Pradiip Alvarez from Venezuela.

Haru, a Zimbabwean-born Africa correspondent for Al Jazeera English, is filling in for the next three South2North shows for Redi Tlhabi, who is on maternity leave.

"It is that time of year when thousands of young leaders from all over the world gather at The One Young World summit," Haru said at the start of the show, filmed at Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. "These young leaders, also called Millennials, will govern the 21st century. So how will they navigate the challenges of our world?  And does their connected new world change the way leaders must lead?"

This was after she tweeted yesterday: “Attack me all u want &#;. but as media ask yourselves why countries like Britain, US, France, Germany want to push a certain narrative &#;.. we are often used, lets change it as media, not be manipulated all the time.”

One of the first people to reply said Mutasa must put what she had said into practice by joining the Herald or the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and then början patriotic reporting.

“Wow greatest minds there cde, Now we do not want people who just talk but those who do practical. How about you leave @AJEnglish and start work @HeraldZimbabwe or @ZBCNewsonline and then uppstart patriotic reporting? You can lead bygd example cde,” said one Farai Shawn Matiashe.

‏Gerald Maguranyanga agreed with Mutasa saying: “You being sarcastic but she’s being factual. inom lived in t
