    Chiefly correspondence, agreements, contracts, copyright renewal forms, and Library of Congress registration receipts that document transactions between authors and publishers, newspapers, magazines, broadcasting corporations, and film studios. Records also include information regarding sales figures, value of sales, number of unsold books, and royalty payments to authors. The bulk of the material dates from 1897 to 1937.

    The authors and publishers represented in this series are chiefly British and American; there is, however, some material concerning European publication and translation rights to works originally written in English.
