After seven days in police custody, Sahil Zaroo, who had been arrested in connection with the illegal sale of shahtoosh shawls, was released on a bail of Rs25, by the Esplanade metropolitan magistrate court on Tuesday.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate MH Beloshy stated in his order that as the co-accused in the case had been released on bail, there was no reason to detain Zaroo any further in police custody.
The court told Zaroo to be present at the Marine Drive police station once a week after the completion of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case probe (where Zaroo has been booked along with Rahul Mahajan) in Delhi.

A sessions court has reversed magistrate's clean chit to Rahul on the serious charge of financing a drug transaction.
The order, based on co-accused Sahil Zaroo's statement to police, may adversely affect Mahajan's chances of securing bail on Tuesday when his application comes come up before a designated court under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).
Under section 27 A of NDPS Act, financing a drug transaction attracts a minimum sentence of 10 years compared to the six months to one year imprisonment for those convicted for personal drug consumption. Also, section 27 A is a non-bailable offence.
In Mahajan's favour is the fact that police have still not been able to take a firm positio
