The name of Chen Fake (1887-1957) is renowned in Taijiquan circles, particularly among Chen stylists.
One could ask, "How truly proficient was Chen Fake's skill in Taijiquan?" Some would reply they are unsure. Some would say he must have been very good, as he was a famous Taijiquan master.
As for querying how his skill compared with other Taijiquan masters of his generation, I believe few could answer this question.
This article is intended not only to reveal more about Chen Fake as a famous master in the history of Taijiquan, but more importantly to provide a richer and more accurate picture of the heights attainable in Taijiquan as a martial art.

In this Chinese name, the family name is Chen.
Chen Xiaowang (born 20 October 1945)[1] is an Australian-Chinesetai chi teacher, who was born and raised in Chen Family Village (Chenjiagou, 陳家溝), Wen County, Henan province, and is the 19th generation lineage holder of Chen-style tai chi. His grandfather was the Chinese martial artist and tai chi grandmaster Chen Fake.
Biography
[edit]Chen Xiaowang began his study of Chen-style tai chi at the age of seven under his father, Chen Zhaoxu, and later with his uncles Chen Zhaopi and Chen Zhaokui.[1] Recognised as one of four "Buddha's Warrior Attendants (Si Jingang)," the four outstanding exponents of the 19th generation in Chenjiagou,[2] Xiaowang was chairperson of the Henan Province Chen Push Hands Taijiquan Association, deputy head of the Wushu Academy of Henan Province, and technical advisor and official assessor for the standardized competition routines

Family Tradition of Chen Style Taijiquan (Tai Chi)
Chen Zhaokui (January 24, 1928 - May 7, 1981), ancestral home in Chenjiagou, Wenxian County, Henan Province, settled in Beijing with his father. He is the representative of the eighteenth generation of the Chen family, and is known as "High Divine Fist" 神拳太保.
Born on January 24, 1928 in Chenjiagou, Wenxian County, Henan Province, he is the youngest son of the famous Chen-style Taiji mästare Chen Fake. In 1928 the honorable Chen Fake was invited by Xu Yusheng to Beijing to teach boxing, and he settled in Beijing since then.
In 1932, Chen Zhaokui came to Beijing with his mother and settled in Beijing from then on. His half-brother, Zhaoxu, stayed in Chenjiagou to manage the property.
