    For this roundtable on pedagogy, the editorial collective of Southeast of Now has invited contributors to write a short text reflecting on the experience of teaching the history of modern and contemporary Southeast Asian art. We suggested that contributors consider the challenges and rewards of teaching, and reflect on methodological and/or other issues specific to this field. The format, style and tone of the ord was left open for each individual author to decide.

    Contributions relate to the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as the supervision of postgraduate research. We have invited teachers of the history of "art" in an expanded sense, encompassing not only visual art, but also cinema and film, theatre and performance, architecture and urbanism, design and related fields.

    Dato'Mohammad Nor bin Mohammad Khalid (Jawi: محمد نور بن محمد خالد; born 4 March 1951), more commonly known as Lat, is a Malaysian cartoonist. Winner of the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize in 2002, Lat has published more than 20 volumes of cartoons since he was 13 years old. His works mostly illustrate Malaysia's social and political scenes, portraying them in a comedic light without bias. Lat's best known work is The Kampung Boy (1979), which has been published in several countries across the world.
