American government official, journalist, and writer (born 1961)
George Robert Stephanopoulos (born February 10, 1961) is an American television host, political commentator, and former Democratic advisor.[1][2] Stephanopoulos currently is a coanchor with Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan on Good Morning America, and host of This Week, ABC's Sunday morning current events news program.[3][4]
Before his career as a journalist, Stephanopoulos was an advisor to the Democratic Party. He rose to early prominence as a communications director for the 1992 presidential campaign of Bill Clinton and subsequently became White House communications director. He was later senior advisor for policy and strategy, before departing in December 1996.[5]

George Stephanopoulos was born in Fall River, Massachusetts. The son of first-generation Greek-American parents, Stephanopoulos grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Columbia University and in 1983 won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University, where he received a master's degree in theology.
Stephanopoulos began his career in Washington, DC as an aide to Ohio Congressman Ed Feighan. He later served as Feighan's chief of staff before leaving to work on the unsuccessful 1988 presidential campaign of fellow Greek-American liberal Democrat Michael Dukakis. Stephanopoulos returned to Washington in 1989 and landed a job as the executive floor assistant to then House majority leader Dick Gephardt.
