    The Latvian tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko made his debut at the Riga Opera, where he sang the major roles in the repertoire (including Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Alfredo in La Traviata, Erik in Der fliegende Holländer, Ismaele in Nabucco, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Don José in Carmen and Cavaradossi in Tosca). In 2002, he won the Paul Sakss prize in Latvia. He then began an international career in the lyric spinto tenor repertoire. He made his French debut in 2005 at the Bordeaux Opera (Hermann in The Queen of Spades).
