    Daud (Hindi pronunciation:[d̪ɔːɽ]; transl. Run) is a 1997 Indian Hindi-language roadadventure comedy film written and directed by Ram Gopal Varma, starring Sanjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar, with music composed by A. R. Rahman. The film was based on Ram Gopal Varma's 1991 Telugu film Kshana Kshanam, which starred Venkatesh, Sridevi and Paresh Rawal. Daud was not commercially successful.[2]

    Plot

    The affable Nandu is a small-time crook who is hired to deliver a mysterious package to a notorious criminal named Pinky. Feeling that he is being cheated out of his delivery fee, Nandu holds out for more money, and soon finds himself on the run from both the angry gangsters and the police, who have launched a massive manhunt.

    Jhamu Sughand (1951 – 26 May 2008) was an Indian film financier, producer and distributor, in mainstream Bollywood, as well parallel cinema.[citation needed] He is most known as producer of Academy Award-nominated Lagaan (2001), Satya (1998), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Aks (2001)[1] and Bombay (1995).

    He started Jhamu Sughand Productions,[citation needed] also produced films in Marathi and Bengali, and was awarded the 2000National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi as the producer of Astitva directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, and subsequently National Film Award for Best Feature Film for Kaalpurush directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta.
